Good night's sleep in Estelle. 3.4 kms Irache wine fountain, free wine for pilgrims after 8am. stopped for coffee down the road. Even this early, 8.30am, the heat was intense, both perspiring profusely. 10.30am arrived at Villa mayor albergue, 500 years old. We were 7th in line for 25 available beds. they don't take bookings. Relief getting here, so many were turned away. The next accommodation 11.5kms away. We have booked for Terros del Rio, 10 kms away. We are both happy and seem to be getting in sync with the walking and everything else that goes with the Camino. Had a communal meal, salad, chi ken paella, and dessert plus a bottle of red wine. We attended meditation, music and pray followed by green tea. Both came away feeling uplifted.
Left hostel 6.45am in the dark, nice and cool especially after the thunderstorm the night before. Coffee on Los Arcos, and arrived in Torres del Rio 1.30p . We had walked through the heat for several hours and we were both exhausted. After a shower, had a nap, beer (2) a and visited the Sepulcro linked with the Knights Templar. Dinner, bed. After breakfast started walking under a full moon, didn't need a torch, it was magic. 10kms to Viana. There is a beautiful church 13 century, Santa Maria. The tomb of Cesar Borgia is here before the entrance. Having a beer and lunch in the plaza before heading to Logrono, where we hopefully have a reservation. Surprisingly we are in good spirits. In these small towns there are babies everywhere, the Spanish population must be exploding.
