Left Arre approx 7am, nice and cool. Caught local bus to edge of Pamplona. Climbed 790 meters to Alto del Perdon, a memorial to pilgrims, countryside beautiful, all the way back to Pamplona. Steep decent played havoc with our knees and feet. At 2pm we were lucky enough to find a room in Uterga. We shared a room with Nancy and Martha who we bumped into at the bar. We keep seeing people who also commenced on Monday and are suffering also. We both feel that this is the toughest physical challenge we have ever faced. My (Loma) tummy is playing up a bit, nauseous and bloating. Saw a pharmacist this morning who gave me some meds. We caught a bus here because of my tummy.. Ian is wondering what the score is for test match is. The countryside is beautiful, freshly ploughed fields and crops of sunflowers waiting to be harvested. The villages we walked through all have a historic church, houses built of stone, shuttered windows and a bar/cafe which we definitely take advantage of. Leaving around 6am mañana, but won't be going far, maybe 10 to 15 kms.
Stay at hostel El Cid next to cathedral,Burgos, cold place
ReplyDeleteUse maps to check your destinations, we started in Astorga. Nice walking. Gets steep and rocky, later. Leon is a good modern town next to old quarter. Many miles of farmland no shade between Burgos and Leon.
ReplyDeleteBon Camino, pulpo is like rubber. Hope your tummy is better. Viti called.
ReplyDeleteTrust you are feeling better now Lomes. All Blacks won 28-9 I think. I am sure it is really hard going, but wow what APN experience, you will never forget and be very proud that you did it. Spoke to Viti the other day. All going well in Sydney weather now warming up, good oh summer is coming. Love Barb
