Aachen

Took Chantal 4 hours to drive via Belgium in pouring rain. I complimented Chantal on her driving.  Checked into hotel 2pm,  quaint family,  host very Germany. Greek salad on our way to Aachan cathedral.  It is one of christendoms most important place of pilgrimage on a particular with Jerusalem,  Rome and the Compestella. Charlemagnes mortal remains are kept in a shrine, he was canonised in 1165 after dying in 814. We are finding Aachan very different to Amiens. We hope it stops raining tomorrow.  Ian going to go on a tour to see Charlemagnes throne, us 2 ladies to  check out the shops.
